P.D. Browne South To Showcase Johnford ST-80GX and You Ji AH-06 At HOUSTEX 2017
From February 28 to March 2, HOUSTEX 2017 will be showcasing the latest in manufacturing technology and techniques. Absolute Machine Tools is excited to have our machine tools represented at the show by our Southeast Texas dealer, P.D. Browne South.
P.D. Browne will be in Booth 2521 at the event, held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. They’ll be showcasing the Johnford ST-80GX and You Ji AH-06 CNC turning centers.
Johnford ST-80GX – Heavy Duty, High Precision CNC Machine
The Johnford ST-80GX is a turning center built in classic style, with a 60° slant bed featuring a torque tube design for stability and rigidity. The machine is cast from one solid piece of Meehanite iron with a 50HP spindle motor and 4-speed gear box. The torque tube and square box ways work together to ensure extreme rigidity of the slant bed for heavy duty turning, while providing for excellent heat dissipation in the machining process.
Machine specifications boast a maximum distance between centers of 88.5”, swing over the bed 47.2”, and 39.4” turning diameter. The headstock, tailstock and saddle are mounted at a 60° angle on the same plane for precision and thermal stability, and the double nut, pretensioned ballscrews eliminate thermal growth to further improve the Johnford ST-80GX’s accuracy and precision.

You Ji AH-06 – High Tech Performance With Old School Power And Durability
The You Ji AH-06 is the modern day answer to the popular CNC turning centers of the 1980s. These old school lathes delivered a power and rigidity that often can’t be found in today’s modern turning centers.
The AH-06’s one piece Meehanite casting 45° slant bed is massive, weighing in at nearly 40,000 lbs. The 55° cross slide enhances operator accessibility and adds mass to the saddle assembly. Bar capacity on the AH-06 is 6.02” (AH-09 is 9.13” and the AH-12 is 12.06”). The widely spaced box ways in both axes and mating surfaces coated in hand scraped Turcite-B combine for superior cutting performance and precision positioning.
You Ji’s spindle is everything users need in a heavy duty machine, with 2 sets of double row roller bearings for radial loads and a pair of angular contact bearing for axis loads delivering unsurpassed strength and precision.
