Production Machining Article Highlights Absolute Customer’s Swiss Lathe Experience
A big thank you to Production Machining Magazine for a great article featuring Hashier Machine, an Ohio-based customer of Absolute Machine Tools that recently purchased its first CNC Swiss lathe. After struggling to find shopfloor employees, brothers Phil and Pete Hashier opted to start becoming familiar with a new machine tool platform that could enable long stretches of unattended operation — a bar-fed, Swiss-type lathe.
The shop purchased a Nexturn SA32B 7-axis Swiss-type from Absolute Machine Tools, spurred by one part family in particular: aluminum shafts as long as 14.35 inches that ran across two lathes and one mill for a total of three operations with a total cycle time of 4 minutes to complete the part. The Nexturn SA32B allows the part that to be dropped complete in 60 seconds.
“The key is tap the expertise of equipment representatives, such as Klaus from Absolute, who can offer guidance as to how to get the most out of that capacity,” said Pete Hashier.
