Johnford has its own cast iron foundry that allows them to build extra heavy gantry mills — adding iron rather than taking it out to decrease the cost of their gantry machines.
Built on massive, FEA-designed Meehanite castings, all Johnford gantry mills offer rigid box ways in Y and Z, plus Schneeberger roller linear ways in X to accommodate unprecedented table loads and provide extreme accuracy under heavy loading. These gantry machines have no table overhang thanks to an X axis that is fully supported by the base casting, eliminating pitch and yaw issues that can occur with vertical machining centers.
Johnford gantry milling machines can be configured in many ways and can even be tailored to fit specific machining needs.
