Tongtai TD-YBC Series – Sub-Spindle Live Tools Y-Axis Turning Centers
Tongtai TD-YBC Series turning centers feature a sub-spindle, live tools and optional Y-axis capability. The machines’ 75° bed design positions the X- and optional Y-axes perpendicular to each other, simplifying programming of the Y-axis for complex off-center milling functions. The bed design also expedites chip removal and facilitates access to the spindles and turret.
Maximum turning diameter for the machines is 14.17″ (360 mm), and distance between spindles is 23.6″ (600 mm). Bar capacities are 2.05,” 2.52″, or 3″ (52 mm, 64 mm or 76 mm)
A full C-axis with live tools is standard for milling operations on both the main and sub-spindles. Also standard is a 12-station (16-station optional) servo-driven bidirectional BMT-65 turret that provides 0.3 second indexing as well as coolant through the tool holders.
The main spindle has a 20 hp motor with different rpm options available depending on the size of bar being machined. The sub-spindle has a 10 hp, 5,000 rpm integral motor. The spindles are synchronized on the fly for part transfer to the sub-spindle. Spindle structures are mounted using precision double row roller bearings in conjunction with angular contact ball bearings for high rigidity and accuracy.
Roller type 1.77″ (45mm) linear ways permit high rapid traverse rates. Double-nut ballscrews are pre-tensioned to eliminate thermal growth.
To ensure precision and thermal stability the headstock, tailstock and saddle all are mounted on the same plane. The coolant tank is separate from the machine base to prevent heat transfer from the coolant to the machine casting.
A Fanuc OiT-F CNC control is standard and offers features including Manual Guide i Conversational programming. Machine performance can be custom-tailored for specific production requirements via a comprehensive selection of options including part and tool probing systems, choice of spindle drive and machining data processing alternatives.
