Absolute Machine Tools Now Exclusive Distributor of LICO Screw Machines
Absolute Machine Tools is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of Advanced Machinery Solutions, based in Columbus, Ohio. With this transaction, Absolute Machine Tools is now the exclusive importer/distributor of Taiwan-based OEM LICO Machinery Company.
Absolute Machine Tools will provide parts, service, and turnkey applications engineering support out of our Mason, Ohio, technical center for LICO’s multi-slide screw machines. Product warranties and service agreements from Advanced Machinery Solutions have been transferred to Absolute Machine Tools.
“The acquisition gives LICO customers more comprehensive service and support by having an experienced and successful company such as Absolute Machine Tools become the principal representative here in the United States and Canada,” said Greg Knight, former president of Advanced Machinery Solutions. “Absolute Machine Tools has been selling the LICO brand for a few years now and has been a leader in the CNC machine tool market for over 30 years, carrying other fine lines from Taiwan such as Johnford bridge mills, You Ji vertical turning lathes, Nexturn CNC Swiss lathes, and AccuteX Wire EDMs and consumables. Further, Absolute Machine Tools has four locations – Lorain and Mason, Ohio; Livonia, Michigan; and Elgin (Chicago), Illinois.”
Since 1978, LICO Machinery has manufactured multi-slide screw machines, which were known as CNC cam machines until early 1990s. The OEM was introduced to the U.S. in 1990, when LICO opened a Texas manufacturing plant to produce specialty parts for the auto industry.
In 1996, LICO became ISO-9000 certified with the introduction of the LNTS line, and in 2001 internationally CE approved. LICO earned The Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Taiwan Ministry of Economics’ Innovative Research Award in 2002.
In 2005, LICO developed the LNC-D 12-position screw machine with live tools, sub-spindle, Y-axis, and automatic bar feeding. Five years later, the LND series machine was introduced, featuring an opposed counter spindle for longer parts, XYZ-axis live turret, and up to three XZ axes cross slides.
LICO’s LNTS and LNDD series screw machines are the pride of the product line. The ruggedly built LNTS Series is capable of form tool use with each slide having a full 2-axis servo-controlled travel. The LNTS, with 3 or 4 multi-slides and an 8-position turret, can overlap up to 5 tools at once. For medium to complex parts, it can match the speed of cam machines and comes standard with a turret-mounted pickoff spindle and gang platform supporting 3 backworking tools, with an optional, 8-position static backworking turret available.
A powerful automatic screw machine, the LNDD series comes standard with an independent counter spindle, two 2-axis cross slides around the main spindle, and an 8-position 2-axis VDI 30 turret that is double tooled for working main and counter spindles. The machine’s overlapping slides allow for maximizing productivity and size control. With live tooling for up to 16 tools on the turret, this machine can handle cross drilling, tapping, slotting, and basic milling.
