Built for Large-Scale, High-Rigidity Machining

The LH Series builds on Johnford’s proven P-Series design while offering even greater part capacity at a highly competitive cost. Designed with offset Y-axis ways and an extra-massive saddle, these machines keep the spindle centerline extremely close to the bridge for superior rigidity. The result is stable, precise cutting performance even on the heaviest and largest workpieces. Johnford’s signature Meehanite cast construction and wide Y-axis way spacing deliver exceptional vibration damping and durability under heavy loads.

Advanced 5-Face and 5-Axis Machining Options

For manufacturers needing maximum flexibility, the LH Series offers optional 5-face and 5-axis machining capabilities. Available heads include a fully automated 5-sided head with 360° rotation in 5° increments, which can be automatically attached and detached during machining and stored in its own cradle outside the cutting envelope. For true 5-axis work, the AC-5 heavy-duty milling head features an HSK-100A tooling system and a Weiss 10,000 RPM integral spindle delivering 47 HP and 258 ft-lbs of torque at just 1,000 RPM—ideal for heavy cutting applications. The AC-4 milling head offers an HSK-63A tooling system with a 20,000 RPM integral spindle producing 31 HP and 83 ft-lbs of peak torque at 6,000 RPM, making it ideal for semi-roughing and finishing operations.
