Johnford BMC Series – Table-Type Horizontal Boring Mills
Johnford Boring Mills are the heaviest horizontal boring mills in their class!
Machines in the Johnford BMC series of three Johnford table-type horizontal boring mills are engineered with a moving column for the Z axis and a moving table for the X axis. The design provides maximum rigidity and accuracy as well as full support of the table over the complete X axis travel. The X axis is supported by the base with absolutely no overhang, eliminating any need for outriggers or outboard supports to handle high table loads. The machines’ massive construction further enhances rigidity and consistent performance.
Machine X-Y-Z travels range from 79″ x 71″ x 63″ (2006 mm x 1803 mm x 1600 mm) to 157″ x 118″ x 63″ (3987 mm x 2997 mm x 1600 mm). The smallest table size is 55″ x 66″ (1397 mm x 1676 mm), and the largest 98″ x 79″ (2489 mm x 2006 mm)
Depending on the machine, spindle power ranges from 35 hp to 50 hp and rpm from 3,000 to 2,000. All spindles feature two-speed gearboxes.
Capacity of the standard automatic toolchanger is 60 tools, with 90,120 and 180 tool capacity optional. Standard equipment also includes linear scales in all axes, a full B-axis rotary table, 300 psi through-spindle coolant, a chip conveyor, and a spindle and gearbox cooler.
