Johnford’s LH CNC bridge mill series offers an extended Y-axis travel of 2800mm or 110.2”. The extended Y-axis is important because it enhances a bridge mills capabilities to handle large more complex parts which makes the machine more versatile for taking on additional machining jobs and a variety of machining tasks, which ultimately results in a faster ROI. Improved efficiency, productivity and accuracy are also benefits on an extended Y-axis CNC machine tool.

The Johnford LH series machines are designed with offset Y-axis ways and a massive saddle that secures the spindle center line to remain extremely close to the bridge mill for additional rigidity. This design also allows for more distance across the Y-axis ways while simultaneously offering extra support of the massive headstock built with each Johnford LH series CNC machines. The LH series can be equipped with an optional 5-sided machining head featuring a full 360° rotation in increments of 5°. This head can be automatically attached and detached during machining and is stored in its own cradle located outside the machining envelope. A 5-axis milling head is also optional. The AC-5 heavy duty head is available with HSK-100A tooling system and a Weiss 10,000 RPM integral spindle that delivers 47HP and 258 ft./lbs. of torque at only 1,000 RPM. The AC-5 5-axis milling head is ideal for heavier type cutting applications. The AC-4 milling head is available with HSK-63A tooling system and a 20,000 RPM integral spindle that delivers 31HP and 83 ft./lbs. of peak torque at 6,000 RPM. This head is ideal for semi-rough and finishing operations. Johnford’s LH series is available in the following models: DMC-3100LH, DMC-4100LH, DMC-5100LH, and DMC-6100LH, and all include an extended Y-axis of 2800mm or 110.2”.
