Johnford SL Series – 30˚ or 45˚ Slant Bed Lathes up to 27.5″ Swing over Bed

The Johnford SL Series consists of 30° and 45° horizontal slant bed CNC lathes engineered for high-rigidity turning, heavy metal removal, and precision machining in general job shops, automotive supply, hydraulic/pneumatic component manufacturing, and general production environments. Unlike many competing slant bed lathe designs from Smart, Doosan (DN Solutions), Okuma, SMEC, Hyundai Wia, Mazak, and Haas, the SL Series is built using a Meehanite one-piece torque-tube slant bed casting, precision hand-scraped box ways, and thermally stable 45° component alignment — offering significantly greater structural stiffness and machining accuracy than typical linear-way commodity machines.

The SL Series includes swing over bed from 15.7″ to 27.5″, swing over cross slide from 13″ to 21.25″, distance between centers from 24″ to 100″, and bar capacities from 1.7″ to 4.5″, making it ideal for a wide range of production turning applications requiring high rigidity and long-term reliability.
